CITIZENS COMPASS– The Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF), on Sunday, urged all contenders of the Alaafin’s stool in Oyo State to rally round the newly crowned 46th Alaafin,Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade.
Citizens Compass reported that the official coronation for the monarch took place on Saturday, at Oliveth Baptist High School in Oyo, where Governor Seyi Makinde led a host of dignitaries, including notable Nigerians.
Sanjo Olawuyi, YIF Director of Communications and Strategies, on behalf of YIF President, Dr Olumide Aderibole, congratulated the monarch in a statement.
It reads, “Yoruba Indigenes Foundation congratulates Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, on the occasion of his coronation as the 46th Alafin of Oyo Kingdom in Oyo State, by the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
“On behalf of the Board of Governors, we felicitate with the Oyo indigenes both at home and in the Diaspora, as they witness the official coronation of Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade l, as the new Alafin of Oyo.
“We are optimistic that Oba Akeem Owoade will represent bravery, courage and history as the custodian of the throne of Alafin.
“YIF is calling on all noble sons and daughters of Oyo Kingdom, to give unalloyed support and cooperation to Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I.
“Yoruba Indigenes Foundation(YIF), is optimistic that the new Alafin of Oyo is a promising royal Father, with an array of outstanding leadership qualities.
“There is no doubt that Oba Abimbola Owoade will use his digital experience to transform the Oyo Township and the entire Yoruba race.
“YIF urges all the previous co-contenders for the throne, to rally round Oba Abimbola Owoade, and arrive at a common goal, which should re-consolidate and re-position Oyo town, as the cradle of Yorubaland, values, indigenous technologies, arts and culture.
“We advise all aggrieved individuals and groups to the new Alafin, not to engage in legal battles, which may tarnish the prestige and honour that the town is known for.”
