Yoruba Indigenes Foundation condems call for Tunji Ojo’s sack
CITIZENS COMPASS —The President of Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF), Dr Olumide Aderibole, has condemned the recent call by some groups of people, that President Bola Amed Tinubu should sack the embattled Minister for Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The Group described the call for sack as baseless, that the Minister was involved in N438 Million Contract Scandal.
In a statement signed by Mr Sanjo Olawuyi, the Director of Communications and Strategies of the Foundation, Dr Aderibole said “Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has resigned from the New Planet Project for the past five years, after winning an election into the House of Representatives”.
“Mr Tunji-Ojo is not involved in the controversial N438 Million Contract Scandal, involving the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu”.
Mr Tunji-Ojo was not involved in the running of the affairs of New Planet Project Ltd, the company that collected a consultancy fee, from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. More so, Tunji-Ojo is not a signatory to New Planet Ltd. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has nothing to do with any issue involving conflict of interest and abuse of public office.”
The President cited the ground breaking and iconic achievements, recorded so far by the Ministry since Tunji-Ojo assumed office.
Among the achievements were an array of reformed policies. placement of premium attention to the welfare of the citizens of Nigeria, creation of an effective and efficient service delivery in the Federal Ministry of Interior Affairs. “These resulted in the issuance of 204,000 backlog of international passports. The creation of a user- friendly E-Platform for Visa Processing. Striving to ensure equitable salaries and fair remunerations for staff of Paramilitary agencies.
“The Release of over 4,000 inmates from some correctional centers a cross the country. Promotion of 32,361personnel across the Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.
“As at today, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has abolished all bottle necks that were associated with the acquisition of international passports and other immigration documents.”
