SIX people have reportedly die over wrongful overtaking on Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The incident which involved two trucks and a motorcycle occured at about 6.35pm on Sunday infront of Eleganza factory.
Eye witnesses’ account said one of the trucks was laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), as at the time of the incident which claimed the lives of six males after a fire outbreak.
The inferno was said to be as a result of the head+on collision of the trucks while the bike rider was caught up in the fire.
The corpses had been deposited at the morgue.
Owing to the crash, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command has charged motorists to avoid wrongful overtaking and be safety conscious at all times.
At press time, FRSC Sector Commander, Lagos, Olusegun Ogungbemide said that all the responders which include FRSC, Lagos Fire service, Nigeria Police and other sister agencies were making efforts to remove all the crashed vehicles and bike off the road and to restore normalcy along that axis.
He also advised motorists to be careful and drive safe because the crash was as a result of recklessness of both articulated vehicles while trying to overtake each other.
The Sector Commander pleads with road users to be patient and disciplined to prevent avoidable crashes.
He reiterated that the Command’s war on reckless Articulated drivers and rickety vehicles will continue unabated until desired results is achieved.
