ABIA STATE Police Command has arrested one Mrs. Zazi David for pouring hot water on a 10-year-old girl.
The incident was said to have occured on Sunday, at a housing estate in Umuahia, Abia State.
The victim identified as Ifunanya, was said to be a maid before she was punished for breaking a plate.
Spokesperson of the command, Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the suspect1 allegedly forced the girl, to drink the hot, peppery mixture in their apartment located at a housing estate in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to reports, the suspect had abused the girl on several occasions, leaving her with injuries.
Afraid that the girl may die or develop an infection, the suspect was said to have taken the girl to a nearby chemist who advised her to take her to a hospital but she ignored the advice.
However, the chemist raised the alarm which attracted sympathisers.
Ogbonna said the suspect will be prosecuted after investigation.
