Woman allegedly sells baby at ₦3.5 million, gave ₦600,000 to mother

CITIZENS COMPASS – The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a baby factory where a suspect allegedly bought a newborn baby for ₦3.5 million in Delta State and gave ₦600,000 to the mother of the baby.

This was uncovered when the Command clamped down on the factory and arrested some suspects including the mother of the baby.

Spokesperson for the Command, Bright Edafe, on Monday, shared a video of the clamp down on his X Handle.

He said three suspects were arrested in connection with an alleged baby trafficking at the factory.

The Spokesperson vowed that there would be no breathing space for baby factories in the State.

According to the video, one of the suspects said the child’s mother allegedly handed over her newborn to an unidentified woman, who later sold the baby for ₦3.5 million but only gave the mother ₦600,000.

Captioning the video, Edafe wrote: “The girl with long hair got pregnant, and people took care of her, but after some time, they saw her without the pregnancy. What happened to your baby, she said a woman helped her sell the child and gave her 600k.

“Watch and see how much she sold the baby. This baby factory business thing, we are clamping down on it seriously.”

Explaining how they sold the baby, the seller said, “I sold the baby for N3.5 million. I gave the mother N600,00, the N30,000 was the money she took from me earlier on. I gave her N600,000 for her business, the remaining money is in my account, I didn’t touch it. She said she didn’t want to breastfeed, that she didn’t need the relationship.”

According to the buyer, “I’m from Ika, there’s a lady in my area, I told her I wanted to adopt a child in a legit way. I paid the seller N5 million. She told me that the document is in process, that she’ll bring it.”
