Wife allegedly kills husband with pestle

 

CITIZENS COMPASS –A middle-aged housewife in Ondo State, Omolara Oluwakemi, has allegedly killed her husband, Seidu Jamiu, with a pestle.

The incident occurred in Akungba, Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The deceased was allegedly killed over infidelity.

The housewife reportedly smashed the victim’s head with a pestle while asleep at night.

Police sources confirmed that after the incident, the housewife rushed to the police station to report that her husband died in his sleep.

An eyewitness said the couple have been quarrelling over the victim’s extramarital affairs.

The suspect was said to have got wind that the victim was still going out with the side chick and decided to terminate his life.

It was learned that after the suspect rushed to the police station, their neighbours who had the distressed cry of the victim rushed him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

A community leader, who spoke with newsmen in confidence, said the couples have been having a running battle over the deceased’s extramarital affairs of late.

According to him, “After the wife smashed the husband’s head with a pestle, she rushed to the police station to report that the husband had died.

“The victim was rushed to the hospital but he couldn’t make it as doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.”

He added that the elders from the Ibaka community of Akungba and the Seriki Musulumi of the town, have been informed of the incident.

The spokesperson Ondo State Police Command, Funmi Odunlami, said the deceased’s wife, Omolara, reported the incident at the police station in Akungba Akoko in the early hours of Saturday.

Odunlami said she could not confirm the allegation that the wife killed the deceased, noting that the wife was the complainant of the incident.

According to her, “I can’t confirm that the victim’s wife killed him because it was the woman that reported the matter at the police station. We have not made any arrest now but investigation had begun into the incident.”

She promised that police detectives would unravel the killer of the victim and bring the culprit to book.
