Reacting to one of our published stories, Ojobaro Michael,
Coordinator: Crime Prevention Project, Ajegunle Apapa Lagos, said the Naval officer was killed by a criminal gang.
According to him, “The Ajegunle story; it’s a criminal gang that retaliated over the killing of one of their members, named Small at Nosamu Street, early hour on Thursday.
” They traced his killer to Olowojeunjeje junction where some criminal gangs were drinking and sharing their loot.
” The Navy officer named Harrison is known for his affiliation with those criminal gangs at Olowojeunjeje and most often he gives them cover from police arrest.
“The gang that came to shoot were from Amukoko area, the neighbouring council and they passsed through Ugbowankwo street to open fire to those criminals at Olowojeunjeje, unfortunately the Navy personnel were hit by their bullets and some of the gangs members also sustain some bullet wound.
” Harrison was on mufti but they recognised him as a Naval officer, so they rushed him to Navy Hospital, Boundary Ajegunle where it was announced that he had died.
” The Police from Lagos state command and Navy OPMESA have been on the massive operation to get the killers but the soldier’s friends and coursemates have been terrorizing the community, destroying vehicles, instilling fear on passersby and tormenting the entire Ajegunle.
“They have gone to the extent of collecting people’s phones and valuables while going from bustop to bustop with bikes and full military wear.
” There is a security meeting at the state level today, Monday, to curtain this excesses and bring all the perpetrators to book.”
In a chat with Citizenscompass, another resident, Collins Isiwe said unnecessary romance of security operatives with criminal gangs has made it sucesfil operations difficult to achieve so far.
