SOME villagers in Gombedeked along Dumne Road in Song LGA in Adamawa State, have apprehended two members of a vigilante group who allegedly killed a man and attempted to abduct his son.
The suspects, identified as Abdulrahaman Yakubu and Suleiman Lawanfor who were residents of
the area have been handed over to the Police.
30 years old Abdulrahaman is a father of five while Suleiman, 35, is a father of 10 and both were said to have gone on the attempted kidnapping with three others who are now at large.
It was gathered on Sunday, that the suspects stormed the home of their target and abducted his son but while dragging the boy out of his father’s house, his elder brother confronted them.
One of the suspects was said to have fired gunshots but it did not harm the elder son, who they claimed was invinsible.
It was learnt that a stray bullet from another suspect who continued to fire shots, hit the boy’s father in the stomach while coming out of his room.
He was said to have died on the spot but neighbours on hearing the gunshots pursued the suspects and succeeded in rescuing the boy.
The following day, other local vigilante members traced the footsteps of the suspects from the scene of the crime to their various houses where they were apprehended.
Reacting to the development, Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspects were in Police custody for investigations.
