Victim identifies kidnapper during visit
CITIZENS COMPASS – A kidnapped victim in Niger State has identified one of his suspected kidnappers during a sympathy visit to his house.
The suspect, Nasiru Isyaka, is currently in the Police net.
He was arrested in Kontagora Local Government Area of the State.
Spokesperson, Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday.
He said Isyaka, alongside his gang, had previously attacked the Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu, killing one person and abducting two others.
The statement reads, “On January 17th, 2025, at about 10 a.m., officers from ‘A’ Division Kontangora arrested Nasiru Isyaka of Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village,”
“The attack occurred on December 29th, 2024, when armed men invaded the village, killed a resident, and kidnapped two people. The victims were later rescued through coordinated efforts by security agencies.”
The spokesperson said that Isyaka was identified and arrested during his visit to one of the rescued victims’ homes. “Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect was recognized and arrested while visiting one of the victims at their home,”
The police recovered a locally made short gun from the suspect, who has since admitted to the crime.
Isyaka has been transferred to the police headquarters in Minna for further investigation and possible prosecution.
