Two injured in early hours accident in Lagos 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on Saturday, confirmed that two persons were injured in an autocrash on the Otedola Bridge area of the State.

The Agency on its updates by its Permanent Secretary, Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the response team was activated at about 0520hrs.

He gave the details of the accident thus, “Following notification of a road crash at 0520hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans, with it’s Response Team from the Command and Control, Alausa, Ikeja.

“On arrival of LASEMA’s Tiger Response Team at the incident scene, an empty tipper truck, registration number unknown, was discovered to have fallen on its side under the bridge, posing a hazard to other road users.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the fallen truck was travelling on top speed when it collided with the base of the bridge, while outbound on the Olowo Popo axis, towards Otedola Estate.

– No loss of lives were recorded.

– The two victims reportedly involved had sustained various injuries and had been transported to a nearby hospital before arrival of the Agency’s Response Teams.

“Personnel from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Nigeria Police Force responded to the incident.

– LASEMA’s Tiger Response Team has activated all necessary Safety and Traffic Control Measures for safety of responders and other road users during the operation.

– The NPF personnel have secured the incident scene, while managing the traffic situation at the incident scene to minimize traffic disruptions.

– Agency’s Response Team has activated the necessary heavy-duty equipment – the Super Metro for swift recovery of the impediment off the road.

– Agency’s heavy-duty equipment has arrived at the incident scene and is in the process of recovering the accident truck.
