Two injured as truck rams into bus on Otedola bridge
CITIZENS COMPASS – TWO passengers of a commercial bus were injured on Thursday, during an accident involving two trucks and a commercial bus, on Otedola bridge outward Lagos State.
One of the trucks was laden with iron rods while the other with a number plate, AAA- 799 XX was laden with 45,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
According to eyewitnesses’ account, the incident occurred at about 9.19a.m.when the bus with number BDJ-250XG, was hit from the rear by the iron rods-laden truck.
There was no loss of life but two passengers of the commercial bus were said to have sustained injuries.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident to Citizenscompass.
In his updates, he said, “Upon arrival at the scene, the LRT discovered a Mack truck with unknown registration number laden with H-beam (Iron), was involved in a road accident with a commuter bus, registration number BDJ-250XG.
” Investigation conducted by the LRT revealed that the Truck while on motion rammed into the ongoing commuter bus, from behind, the impact which led to damage to the bus. While another unsuspecting Tanker with registration number AAA- 799 XX laden with 45,000 liters of PMS had a collision with the two ill-fated vehicles due to poor visibility.
“No loss of life, however 2 adult male (The commuter bus occupants) sustained injuries due to the impact of the crash and has been taken to Trauma center for medical treatment.
” The Agency’s LRT, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Nigeria police Ojodu Berger division are on ground to ensure safety measures.”
As at 10.07 a. m, he said efforts were ongoing to evacuate the affected Vehicles off the road.
