Trucks crush car, tricycles in Lagos

CITIZENS COMPASS – CONTAINERISED trucks on Monday, fell on a private car and two tricycles (Keke Marwa) in Lagos State.
The first of the incident occurred on Lagos/Abeokuta expressway at Cement bus-stop, inward Iyana-Ipaja while the second occurred at Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed both incidents which occurred at day time.
In his Situation Reports on Monday, he said, in Ikeja, ” An articulated truck, with number plate, MUS 41 XY, laden with a 40feet container suffered mechanical error, rolled back and crushed 2 Tricycles (Keke NAPEP), number plates, KRD 276QM and AAA 227 QM respectively, while ascending the hill, inward Kudirat Abiola way, blocking the entire carriage way.”
He said the there was no loss of life or death during the incident, ” No mortality,
No injuries, were recorded at the scene of the incident.”
He said Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other relevant agencies were on ground.
As regards that of Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, he said, the accident involved a 20ft containerised truck with unknown number plate and Toyota Camry with number plate, JJJ 633 HX.
” Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that an IVECO truck laden with 20ft container with unknown registration number and Toyota Camry with registration number JJJ 633 HX were involved in an accident at above mentioned location.
” Further investigation gathered at the scene revealed that the truck, while it was stationed on the road side fell on a car that was parked by the road side.
” No loss of life or injury recorded.
” The Agency’s LRT, LASG FIRE, LASTMA, LNSC and Nigeria police force are on ground managing the traffic situation. The Agency’s heavy duty equipment (crane) is enroute”
Fortunately, there were no occupants on the vehicles as at the time of the incidents.
