CITIZENS COMPASS – A tanker laden with 60,000 kitres diessel has reportedky crushed a femake hawjer to death on Otedola Bridge in Lagos State.
The incident occurred at day time, on Saturday, Juky 15, 2023, inward Berger.
It was learnt that the articulated truck marked GME 483XD, was on motion when it suffered mechanical failure and rammed into other ongoing vehicles, a Suzuki with number number plate, EPE-302HR, Toyota Camry with number plate, MUS 242 HM and Avalon AYE 453SF damaging the three vehicles in the process.
Citizens Compass lesrnt that the female hawker, a pedestrian was crusged to death during the accident which was confirmed by Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke – Osanyintolu.
The Permanent Secretary disclosed this while gibing uodates about the accident. “On arrival at the incident scene, it was discovered that a tanker fully loaded with diesel (60,000 litres] was found to have crushed a female pedestrian (hawker) on Otedola Bridge inward Berger.
Further Investigation conducted by the LRT revealed that the articulated truck with number plate, GME 483 XD suffered a mechanical fault (brake failure) and rammed into other ongoing vehicles (suzuki with registration number EPE-302HR and a Toyota camry reg number MUS242HM, Avalon AYE 453SF, damaging the three vehicle’s in the process.
“The LRT, alongside NPF, LASAMBUS, FRSC, LASTMA officials and RRS are currently on ground to salvage the situation.”
He said operation ongoing at press time.
