CITIZENS COMPASS —In a tragic circumstance, a resident of Community Avenue, Oshogun, Alapere Ketu, Agboyi Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, has accidentally fallen into a canal on New Year day.
The victim, 27 years old Adeyemi Azeez, was said to have fallen into the canal leading into the Lagoon while playing around the area.
His decomposing body was latet recovered by Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The Director of the Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye who confirmed this to Citizens Compass in a statement on Thursday, January 4, 2024, said, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reports a somber incident involving the recovery of the body of one Adeyemi Azeez, a 27-year-old resident of Community Avenue, Oshogun, Alapere Ketu, Agboyi LCDA.
“On January 3, 2024, at 20:56hrs, the agency received a distress call, prompting a swift response from the dedicated rescue crew at the Ikeja Fire Station. Over a two-day period, intensive search and rescue operations were conducted, culminating in the recovery of Mr. Azeez’s body on Wednesday at approximately 16:05hrs.
“The preliminary investigation indicates that Azeez accidentally fell into the drain collector canal leading to the lagoon on New Year’s Day.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Azeez during this difficult time. The recovered body has been promptly handed over to the Alapere Division police for further procedures.”
