CITIZENS COMPASS – Lagos State Fire and Safety Service has recovered three bodies at the scene of a gas explosion which occurred at Abule Pan community in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government area of the State.
The incident which occurred at about 3.34p.m, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, also left one person injured.
It was learned that the incident resulted in panic forcing many residents to flee their homes.
The explosion was said to have involved a 50 Kilograms industrial gas cylinder assembled outside a shop in the community along Lekki-Epe expressway.
Confirming the incident, the Director,
Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a statement.
She attributed the cause to the “mishandling of gas cylinders.”
She said the rescue operation was complemented by Health Environment officials, Military Officials, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials, and Ibeju Lekki Local Government staff.
