Three children, seven others die in Lagos accident, three critically injured

CITIZENS COMPASS– Ten persons including three children on Wednesday, lost their lives while three others were critically injured during an accident involving an articulated truck and a Sienna bus on the Lagos-Badagry expressway.
The deceased were three male adults, four female adults, two female children and a male child.
It occurred at about 1a m at Abule Osun, inward Iyana Iba.
It was gathered that the Toyota Sienna bus, with number plate, BDG 342 FS, laden to capacity with passengers from the Eastern part of the country crashed into the yet-to-be-identified stationery SHACMAN truck from the rear.
The truck was laden with granite as at the time of the accident.
Those injured were a female adult and two children (male and female).
They were all taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
In his situation report, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said, “In response to distress calls received via the 767/112 Toll-Free Lines at 2307hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated its Dolphin Response Team from Igando Base.
“Upon arrival at the scene of the road traffic accident at Abule Osun, inward Iyana Iba, along Lagos-Badagry Expressway, it was discovered that a Toyota Sienna bus, registration number BDG 342 FS, laden to capacity with passengers from the Eastern part of the country was involved in a road accident with a parked SHACMAN truck, registration number unknown.
“Further investigations revealed that the truck, which was laden with granite, was parked on the road shutting down about half of the carriageway, while the Toyota Sienna on top speed, unknowingly crashed into the parked truck from behind.
“Ten people lost their lives to the unfortunate incident, while three were criticalIy injured.
“The dead passengers includes;
- 3 male adults
- 4 female adults
- 2 female children
- 1 male child.
“The injured passengers reportedly rescued and taken to a nearby hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) before arrival of the Agency’s LRT at the scene of incident includes;
- 1 female adult.
- 2 children (male and female)
“The accidental Toyota Sienna was recovered with the aid of Agency’s Lite Tow Truck and towed to the FRSC station.
