Third Mainland Bridge: Body of drowned passenger recovered, one missing
CITIZENS COMPASS– Emergency responders in Lagos on Friday, April 12, 2024 recovered the body of one of the two passengers who flung into the Lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.
Citizens Compass reported that on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, two passengers of an ill-fated LT bus flung into the Lagoon when the bus conveying them hit the bridge rails on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The Marine Police and other emergency responders have been in search of the bodies until one of them was recovered on Friday.
The Coordinator, Lagos State Territorial District of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the recovery to Citizens Compass in a chat.
He said search and rescue for the second body was ongoing
According to him, the recovered body was noticed very close to the scene of the accident on Friday.
“Recovered body of a male drowned passenger of the ill-fated bus that crashed on the 3rd Mainland bridge.
“The body was recovered within the vicinity of the incident scene.
“We are still searching for the body of the other woman
“The recovery was done by the Marine Police.”
Recall that both passengers flung into the Lagoon when the bus conveying them hit the bridge rails on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The accident which occurred in the afternoon was said to have involved an 18-seater LT bus with number plate FKJ 872 YA which was journeying from Adeniji Adele axis inward Lagos Island.
It was gathered that the bus driver was on top speed when the accident occurred as he swerved off the road and hit bridge rails causing an adult male and female passengers to fling off into the Lagoon.
