
Thanksgiving: LG chairman’s wife doles out cash gift, food item to widows, elderly

CITIZENS COMPASS – The wife of Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Mrs Abolanle Adesina, on Wednesday, doled out cash gifts and food item to widows, elderly and vulnerable members of the society in Ikorodu area.
Adesina, speaking at the council secreteriat in Ikorodu, emphasised the need to give gratitude to God to unlock doors of divine favour to pave way for greater blessings.
The Citizencompass reports that no fewer than 40 beneficiaries received cash gift of N10,000 each, 100 people received paint of Garri while four people were given form on Jerusalem Pilgrimage.
“The essence of thanksgiving goes beyond mere words, it is a way of life and testament to acknowledge God’s sovereignty in all things.
“The past years have been one of trials and triumphs, challenges and breakthroughs.
“God has helped the chairman to perform his mandate to the people and bringing more dividends of democracy to the people.
“Through it, we have seen the Mighty hand of God protecting, guiding and blessings the works of our hands,” she said.
She advised beneficiaries to emulate the heart of Thanksgiving” If you give to God he can do more, in any ramifications give thanks” she said.
Earlier, Sen. Mukhail Abiru(Lagos East-) commended the council chairman and his wife on the gesture and urged the beneficiaries to judiciously make use of what is given to them.
Abiru, represented by his media aide, Mr Enitan Olukotun led the Adesina lead administration by supporting the vulnerables and elderly at this time adding that every country has their peculiar challenges.
“The local government is part of the coverage of my district, that is why I come to identify with them.
“To the beneficiaries, I urged them to make judicious use of what has been given to them,” he said.
In his remarks, the council chairman, Mr Wasiu Adesina, appreciated God for his support, guidance and success recorded in his administration with a promise to do more.
“I feel very grateful to God on behalf of myself, my family and Ikorodu as a whole.
“It is a yearly programme and a special day to reciprocate what God has done in our lives with a promise to continue even when my tenure expires,” he said.
Earlier, Mrs Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Vice chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, appreciated the people for trusting them and the All Progressive (APC) party and for giving them the mandate to serve.
Olabanji-Oba, National chairman, Association of Vice Chairmen of Local Government of Nigeria urged beneficiaries of the Jerusalem pilgrims to come back and be a greater blessing to the community.
Similarly, Pastor Samson Gilbert, one of the beneficiaries of Jerusalem pilgrimage who delivers sermons expresses gratitude to the council chairman and call on other council chairman to emulate the kind gesture.
