Thanksgiving: Ikorodu LG chairman tasks staff on diligence, commitment

CITIZENS COMPASS — The Chairman of Ikorodu Government (LG), Lagos State, Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, on Tuesday, urged staff to be diligent, dedicated and redouble their efforts towards achieving the council’s goals.
Adesina made the call during the 2025 Annual Inter-Denominational Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the council secretariat in Ikorodu.
Adesina said there was a need for members of staff to be dedicated to duty to ensure delivery of more dividends of democracy to the people of the council area.
“The significance of the prayers initiated since I was elected as Chairman is to commit all our doings in the year into the hand of God.
“We believe that the year 2025 will be a prosperous year for everyone,” he said.
Adesina promised to purchase a staff bus that would ply the Ketu- Ikorodu route, to ease movement of workers,especially those transferred from other councils.
He also promised to improve staff welfare in order to boost their morale and promote productivity.
The council boss thanked President Bola Tinubu for championing autonomy for local government, saying the idea would promote grassroots development.
He also thanked Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support for autonomy of local councils.
Adesina urged other governors to emulate Sanwo-Olu by giving the necessary support to the councils in their respective states.
“I appreciate our governor because the autonomy is working in Lagos already, our money is released to us promptly,” he said.
In his welcome address, Mr Kazeem Adebambo, President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) Ikorodu chapter, expressed gratitude to the chairman for the council’s welfare package for staff during the yuletide and urged him to do more.
Also speaking, Mrs Beatrice Olunuga, Acting Council Manager, expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman, for his laudable achievements in the area of staff welfare ,saying that workers would reciprocate by giving their best in 2025.
