TCG optimistic of clinching the APC chairmanship seat in Amuwo-Odofin
The Consolidation Group (TCG), on Tuesday, says it is optimistic of clinching the Amuwo Odofin Local Government chairmanship seat before the final date allowed by Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
TCG at its weekly meeting said it was full of expectations towards the victory.
An APC stalwart in Amuwo Odofin LGA,
Prince Kunle Dosunmu, commended members for maintaining high spirit after the inconclusive primaries held on May 29th, 2021.
He asked them to always act with dignity and decorum during this unsettling period and that their discussions on social media and other platforms should be fact based and not sentimental when enlightening people about the events that happened during the botched primaries.
He also urged them to continue to pray for the group’s candidate Comrade Ibrahim Balogun as the race is not yet over.
In his address, the founder of the Consolidation Group and former Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, urged them to remain steadfast, stating that the battle for the highly revered seat of the local government chairmanship was not over.
He stated that the social media space was awash with a lot of misleading information but that the truth was plain to see by all who took part in the botched primaries.
He said, “It was well documented that the exercise was disrupted by aspirants perpetrating all manners of electoral malpractices including the use of thugs wielding guns who shot into the air and used the ensuing mayhem to steal and destroy ballot boxes while people fled in panic. Many of the electorates including the elderly sustained injuries,” he said
According to him, “other acts included corrupt party officials giving approval for the bypassing of due process such as accreditation before voting and allowing voting to be done with fake APC membership slip which gave the opportunity for non registered party members to use the fake APC membership slips to vote,” said Adewale.
Other anomalies pointed out include, “Lack of electoral materials, late start of the process and deliberate blocking of registered party members to access some centres were also acts perpetuated to disrupt the exercise,”
He stated that these verifiable facts had been brought to the attention of the authorities and he was confident that necessary actions would be taken.
Comrade Ayodele assured all members that Comrade Ibrahim Balogun would be sworn in as the next Local Government Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government because he had the overwhelming support of the residents in the LGA given the platform he was coming from,
The Consolidation Group, an all inclusive platform consisting of different ethnic groups, trade groups and artisans, student bodies and professionals that had grown organically through the years.
The group of One Hundred and Thirty Eight (138) people were highly motivated after his speech and left with renewed hope.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, 14th of June, 2021 by 4pm at 7th Avenue, E close, Festac Town, Lagos State.
All attendees were urged to come with a medical facemask as all COVID 19 protocols will be duly observed.
