Supreme Court rules on Fubara, House of Assembly
CITIZENS COMPASS– Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara as the Supreme Court has ruled that the
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should halt the disbursement of funds to the State government.
The Court set this as the status until a properly constituted House of Assembly is in place.
In a landmark judgment, the apex court also directed Martin Amaewhule to immediately resume sitting alongside all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The ruling comes amid the ongoing political crisis in the state, where legislative activities have been at a standstill due to internal conflicts. The Supreme Court’s decision is expected to significantly impact governance in Rivers, as it reinforces the necessity of a functional Assembly for financial appropriations and state administration.
