Stay-at-home husband says wives are breadwinners
CITIZENS COMPASS –Two women have become the breadwinners of their household as their husband stay-at-home.
In the interview, the man, referred to as Nick, explained the unique family dynamic, where he plays the role of a “trophy husband,” and his wives provide for the family.
“I am a stay-at-home dad,” Nick stated. “In our household, the women are the breadwinners. That’s the way we run things here. That’s the way we like it to be structured.”
Nick’s first wife, speaking about the arrangement, added, “Nick is a trophy husband, if you will. We prefer it that way, honestly. I would go crazy if I was at the house all the time, and I pride myself on being a breadwinner. Jen’s right there with me.” Jen, the second wife, also works full-time in management at an IT company, while the first wife is a manager at an organization company.
Together, the two women earn more than enough to support the family, and they have made it clear that they do not require Nick’s income. “Jen and I make more than enough money by ourselves. We don’t need that. We don’t want that,” said the first wife.
In a surprising analogy, Nick compared his role in the household to that of a chess game. “Let me just say this right quick,” he began. “If you look at a chessboard, the king doesn’t really move much because he just moves a square at a time. Meanwhile, the queen, she’s all over the board, okay? The queen’s got all the power. The king just kind of holds court.”
While the family seems to be content with their arrangement, the unconventional situation has sparked debate online. Many have expressed surprise and criticism, questioning the dynamics of a household where the man does not contribute financially. Some find it troubling to see a man in such a passive role, with others arguing that it sets a strange precedent for traditional family structures.
The discussion continues to stir emotions as people weigh in on what it means for gender roles and responsibilities within the home.
