Soldiers torture colleague for allegedly stealing ammunition for bandits

CITIZENS COMPASS–Some Nigerian soldiers have tortured one of their colleagues for allegedly stealing military uniforms and ammunition and selling such to bandits.

A video from the scene went viral over the weekend alledging the soldier for stealing and selling ammunition and other items.

The video captured the soldier in a secluded place sitting on grasses with both hands tied to the back as his colleagues allegedly him of selling ammunition to bandits.

They accused him of pretending to be a friend whereas he acted differently.

The incident was said to have occurred in Katsina State.

The soldiers said they were  all attached to 35 Battalion in the State before their colleague stole and sold the ammunition.

The video also captured the soldiers beaten the colleague who writhed in pain.

The soldiers were heard asking one another what the colleague stole from them and one of them was heard speaking in Pidgin Language explaining why his colleague deserved the punishment being meted on him, “ “See am, all of us dey the same unit, 35 battalion. He don lose guard, he go sell am go give bandit and he is our fellow soldier, we think say na our fellow soldier, not knowing na our enemy him be (Look at him; we are all in the same unit – 35 battalion. He sold things to bandits. We thought he was our colleague not knowing he is an enemy).”

At press time, the Nigerian Army was yet to respond to the video.
