Soldier reportedly kills artisan
CITIZENS COMPASS –A yet-to-be- identified soldier on Thursday, June 20, 2024, stabbed an artisan identified as ‘Bobo Yellow to death following an argument on an Abuja Expressway.
The incident resulted in tension at a spare parts market on Abuja -Keffi Expressway.
The incident occurred following a heated argument between the duo leading to the beating of the soldier, which later led to stabbing of the artisan.
This led to a protest by the deceased’s colleagues in the village, resulting in the burning of the soldier’s car, who immediately fled the scene.
A trader in the area, who pleaded anonymity, said the situation triggered fears, making shop owners close their shops and run for safety.
He said: “The soldier came with a car for the electrician to fix something, after a few hours, they started an argument in which the soldier brought out a knife to defend himself and stabbed the man to death and ran away.
“His car was also burnt by colleagues of the deceased. But the situation is calm now because few policemen came into the market”
Another spare parts dealer, Moses Oluchukwu, said: “The soldier came with the car first to me but I told him that I am busy, he should give another person, they started with heated argument resulting to killing of the electrician and burning of the soldier’s vehicle”
At press time, efforts to get reactions from the Military and the Nigeria Police were unsuccessful as calls and messages to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josphine Adeh, were unattended to.
