CITIZENS COMPASS —Some scammers have devised a new trick to lure unsuspecting electricity users and siphon their money.
With the new trick, is by sending text messages to their targets informing them that their electricity bilks have been recalculated.
The text messages are usually accompanied by an unverified link which tje targets are expected to click and the next is to land in the fraudsters’ net.
However, electricity distribution companies have been alerting their customers through the social media.
An example of the text messages to alert consumers goes thus. “Good afternoon all. Incase you receive any sms in this form, just know that it’s a scam and not from IBEDC. Pls, don’t fall for it. Kindly repost to other CDA & CDC platforms. Thank you.”
