Ramadan: Chairmanship aspirant distributes food items to 300 Muslim faithful in Ikorodu

CITIZENS COMPASS-– A chairmanship aspirant for Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos, State, Mr Oladele Ogunfodurin, on Friday, distributed food items to no fewer than 300 Muslim faithful to break their fast and take home.

Ogunfodurin, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the distribution during an Iftar Ramadan lecture and prayer session at Exclusive club at Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu, Lagos.

He said the gesture was to support and bring succour to his constituent as well as to break the fasting for the day.

The food items distributed included; bread, apple fruits, pap and moinmoin and uncooked rice for consumption at home.

Ogunfodurin assured the people of Ikorodu Local government area that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working hard to alleviate the suffering of the masses.

“Ramadan has been an important period for Muslims community to reflect on the teachings and lessons of Islam.

“It is imperative for us to continue to support one another and extend kindness to the needy in our communities.

“I call on our people to pray for the peace and prosperity of our dear nation, and support the administration of presidents Renew Hope Agenda, ” he said.

Ogunfodurin, on a sideline interview promised to build more public primary schools to reduce out of school children in the area if elected.

The Citizen Compass reports that Ikorodu has a current metro area population of Ikorodu 1,1 million with 69 public primary schools.

Ogunfodurin is among the 22 aspirants vying for APC ticket in Ikorodu for the forthcoming Lagos state 2025 local government election .

The aspirant said he would not only improve on the educational infrastructure but would increase the number of public primary schools in the area, owing to its overwhelming population caused by urban-rural migration.

“I think I have what it takes to be a council chairman because I have a grip on the grassroots as a former ward executive of the party.

“I have worked at the state level as a collation officer of the APC and ran so many campaigns since 1999 till date, ” he said..

Ogunfodurin, popularly called (Omo Oba Alausa) said his vision for transformative initiative would undoubtedly, elevate the standard of living, uplifting educational landscape and empowering future generations.

He promised to also prioritise healthcare, build more markets with affordable shops to reduce street trading and to empower traders with soft loans to boost their businesses and improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the council.

He appealed to party leaders to make the selection process free, fair and credible.

The aspirant said this would give the electorate the best candidate that would be a beacon of hope for growth and development of Ikorodu.

He acknowledged the achievements of the present administration of the council and promised to consolidate it for development and economic growth.
