Psychologists commence free counseling to survivors of Jos building collapse
CITIZENS COMPASS – A team of psychologists in Jos, Plateau State, on Sunday, July 14, 2024, said they have commenced free counseling to the survivors of the school building collapse which occured over the weekend.
An X user, @MunTheShinobi, disclosed this on his X Handle while responding to comments by our Correspondent.
Citizens Compass reported that the X user identified himself as the President of The Nigerian Association of Psychology Students, University of Jos.
He had earlier visited the scene of the incident.
He posted thus, “ We’ve been able to assemble a team of over 50 mental health experts, social workers and psychologists.
“Today we visited the hospitals and spoke to some of the survivors. We listened to them and offered practical psychological aid. We got their details and asked if they’d like a follow up counselor of which most of them agreed to.
“We have imputed the data gathered into our data base and the leads will be pairing the survivors with counselors and mental health professionals for follow up.”
Recall that the a Two-storey building at Saints Academy collapsed on teachers and students during academic activities on Friday.
Citizens Compass that a family of Six; father, mother and four children was wiped off in the process.
