Protests in Ibadan over scarcity of petrol, new Naira notes
CITIZENS COMPASS– HUNDREDS of protesters on Friday, hit the Oyo State Secretariat in Agodi Ibadan to vent their anger against the ongoing hardship across the nation.
Many including uniform men were injured in the process as the protesters vandalised the secretariat.
A video of the protest monitored by Citizens Compass revealed near chaos before normalcy was returned.
It was gathered that the security men at the secretariat locked the secretariat gates after a tip off.
On arrival at the secretariat, the protesters were denied access, a situation which ignited the protests and the gates were vandalised.
The protest was said to be hijacked by hoodlums who were seen with sticks, wood, and other dangerous weapons to force open the secretariat’s main gates.
Workers and their visitors were seen running Helter skelter as the protesters matched to Governor’s office to vent their anger but this faced resistance by security men..
In annoyance, the protesters threw pebbles and other objects into the Governor’s office while property were vandalised.
The swift intervention and back-up from men of the Operation Burst and Police Team saved the situation that would have degenerated into major crises.
