Protesters resist hoodlums from hijacking protest in Lagos
CITIZENS COMPASS—An attempt by some hoodlums to hijack a peaceful protest was on Thursday, rebuffed at Ikeja Under bridge, in Lagos.
This occurred in the morning when the hoodlums attempted to infiltrate the peaceful gathering despite the heavy presence of security operatives at the venue.
However, the protesters were vigilant enough to quickly spot the hoodlums, apprehended and handed them over to the Police.
A viral video monitored by Citizens Compass captured the protesters drawing the attention of security operatives on ground to the thugs.
The video captured one of the protesters addressing his colleagues thus: “We noticed that since the past two days, they didn’t want us to gather here (Ikeja Under Bridge).
“They only wanted designated places. Why we have come here this morning is to demonstrate that we are not slaves.”
While he was still speaking, the thugs surfaced from the crowd, trying to forment trouble but was overpowered.

This was despite the presence of heavily armed police officers and other security organizations at the venue.
A Lagos High Court had on Tuesday, restricted the protests to the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, and Peace Park, Ketu.
