Popular musician to marry three wives same day
CITIZENS COMPASS – A 55-year-old highlife musician in Delta State, Dr. Arube Otor, is set to marry three women same day.
The wedding is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Anglican Church Field in London Base, Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.
A marriage flyer featuring Arube alongside his three brides—Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro—has gone viral. All the women are from Delta State, and the flyer shows the group dressed in matching outfits. Arube’s foster son and one of the RSVPs, Emperor Efih (Oscar), confirmed the event details in a telephone conversation on Wednesday. He also mentioned that although Arube originally planned to marry four women, one had pulled out for personal reasons.
Efih explained that the decision to marry multiple women this year was partly to manage costs. He added, “Arube married two women about 20 years ago. One divorced him, leaving him with just one wife. To cut costs, he decided to marry four women this year. Along the way, one pulled out.”
Arube is a well-known music legend in Delta, famous for his Isoko highlife music. Having been in the music industry for over 30 years, Arube started as a driver before combining his career with music. About 12 years ago, he formed his dance band, “Arube,” and has since released more than 10 albums. Although none of his wives are from his community, he did not court them all at the same time or place. Two of the women have already had children with him, while the third is still awaiting a child.
The women Arube is marrying are from different parts of Delta State, including Edafemaga, Agbede, and Samuel Atubi, representing Lagos-Iyede in Ndokwa East, Oruamudhu Ozoro in Isoko North, and Uroto Quarter in Ozoro, Isoko North, respectively. The traditional rites for the marriages were carried out on the same day last year.
This upcoming wedding has drawn significant attention due to its unusual nature and the musician’s well-established career.
