CITIZENS COMPASS — Popular Yoruba actor, Ebun Oloyede popularly known as Olaiya Igwe has explained why he stripped himself naked praying for the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the 2023 national elections in Nigeria.
Recall that the Actor was seen naked in a video at a Lagos beach praying for Tinubu’s victory at the elections.
In a video which surfaced online on Tuesday, the actor said he was led to do the prayer in a ritual at a beach in Lagos.
In a recent Instagram video, Olaiya Igwe took a moment to address those who found his beachside prayer session unsettling, expressing regret for any offense caused. He sought to clarify that his actions were not arbitrary but rooted in profound revelations he had received.
Explaining the motivation behind his unusual prayer approach, Olaiya Igwe disclosed that Tinubu had been a pillar of support during his battle with Nephrolithiasis, commonly known as kidney stones.
He spoke in his native Yoruba language acknowledging the anticipated criticism for standing behind the President.
Because of things he has done for me, health-wise, and I received a revelation to pray for him at the beach, which I did.
I was criticized and cursed after I did but I didn’t care.”
Despite the inevitable backlash, Olaiya Igwe emphasized that he harbored no ill feelings towards Tinubu and remained unperturbed by the criticism. He acknowledged that his actions might have surprised many, especially those aligned with Tinubu’s rival parties, yet he stood by his decision with unwavering conviction.
Olaiya expressed his loyalty to the President come rain, come shine.
