CITIZENS COMPASS – A video which went viral on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, has revealed how a yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist was brutalised by three policemen on the service lane of Abule – Egba flyover Bridge in Lagos.
According to the video, the policemen were attempting to seize the motorcycle near Ogundele Street, Oja Oba.
It was gathered that the motorcyclist was riding on one of the prohibited routes when the policemen accosted him.
Angered by the action of the motorcyclist, the three policemen were seen in a 45 seconds video clip recorded by an eyewitness descending on the motorcyclist in a bid to seize the motorcycle.
In the video clip posted on Wednesday by a Twitter handle, @AGINAS, one of the policemen was seen using a stick to beat the motorcyclist who was bent on recovering his motorcyclist from them.
“Police Brutality: Unarmed innocent young man seen brutalised by the police and his motorcycle seized from him by a group of (police) in Oja Oba, Ogundele Street close to Abule Egba under the bridge in Lagos,” a message attached to the video read.
Blood was seen gushing out of the head of the motorcyclist as the three policemen fled the scene of the incident with the motorcycle.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force said it had arrested and detained the policemen who were seen in a viral video brutalising an Okada rider in Lagos.
The Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this on Wednesday evening during a Twitter Space webinar organised by Premium Times.
