CITIZENS COMPASS —Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adegoke mni, psc, has presented cheques to the tune of ₦166,223,605 to the next-of-kins of some deceased Police officers in the State.

The cheques cover Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme.

About 86 families are beneficiaries for the policy years 2021/2022.

The presentation took place last Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.

Representatives of the families were on the ground when the CP presented the cheques in the presence of his deputies and pressmen.

Making the presentation, the CP said, “I would like to present these cheques to the families of our fallen colleagues who sacrificed their lives for this job.

“We all know the nature of our jobs which has it that when you are leaving your house in the morning, you won’t know whether you are coming back but that is the job we have signed for and we have to do it with passion.

Some of our colleagues did the job with passion and in the course of doing this, lost their lives.

“The Nigeria Police Force deems it fit to compensate their families though the amount to be presented today cannot equate the loss of lives this is just to provide succor for the children and wives they left behind.

“The insurance is going to cover the years 2021 and 2022.

“I have the pleasure of presenting these cheques to the families of our departed colleagues.”
