CITIZENS COMPASS – Players of Kano Pillars FC U-19 team were on Tuesday, involved in an autocrash that left many of them injured.

The team was on its way to the New Jos Stadium for their Matchday 5 fixture against Plateau United U-19 when the accident occurred.

The game was part of the inaugural U-19 Youth League.

The media directorate of Kano in a statement said the accident also affected the team’s driver requiring immediate medical attention.

The team was on its way to the scheduled game when the accident occurred, disrupting the day’s sporting plans.

However, emergency services responded swiftly, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

“Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported at this time, and the medical team is closely monitoring the situation.” They added, “We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to everyone affected and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.”

The Kano Pillar accident comes just two months after a tragic incident involving the Heartland FC team, which was also in a road accident. That incident, which took place near Okigwe in Imo State, claimed the life of their head coach and former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Christian Obi, as they were en route to a preseason tournament in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
