PECAN celebrates World Pest Day 2024
CITIZENS COMPASS –The Pest Control Association of Nigeria (PECAN) has celebrated and commemorates the World Pest Day 2024, with the theme “Global Solutions, Local Impact: Mapping Success in Pest Management,” National Association of Online Security News Publishers, (NAOSNP) can report.
World Pest Day, an annual event established in 2017, serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of pest control and the contributions of the pest management industry in safeguarding public health, protecting food supplies, and preserving the integrity of structures and infrastructure.
This year’s theme resonates strongly with PECAN’s unwavering dedication to implementing tailored solutions that cater to the pest challenges of various Nigerian communities.
According to PCO Olakunle Williams, PECAN National President; Over the years, the Pest Control Association of Nigeria (PECAN), which is the association of professional Pest Control practitioners, has been dedicated to promoting excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the pest management industry across Nigeria, has been at the forefront of the pest management industry in Nigeria, working tirelessly to address the diverse pest-related issues that our nation faces.
By leveraging global best practices and adapting them to our local contexts, we have achieved significant progress in protecting the health, well-being, and livelihoods of all Nigerians.
He said, “PECAN has invested heavily in developing comprehensive training and certification programmes for pest control operators and technicians across Nigeria.
“These programmes equip professionals with the latest techniques, technologies, and industry best practices, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.
According to him, the Association works closely with government agencies and regulatory bodies to advocate robust policies and regulations that enhance the safety, effectiveness, and environmental sustainability of pest control practices in Nigeria. “This collaborative approach has led to the implementation of stricter guidelines and the adoption of more eco-friendly solutions.
“Recognizing the importance of community engagement, PECAN has spearheaded numerous public awareness and education campaigns to inform Nigerian citizens about the importance of integrated pest management, proper sanitation practices, and preventive measures to mitigate pest-related risks.
These efforts have empowered communities to take an active role in maintaining a healthy and pest-free environment.”
