CITIZENS COMPASS- A Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former Delta State gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has expressed optimism in the candidature of Segun Showunmi, the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State saying he will transform the state if elected.
Onuesoke appealed to residents to emulate the template projected by the candidate for the development of the state.
Addressing newsmen recently in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during a workshop on Good Political Leadership, he said the template of Showunmi who was the spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign in 2019 and served under the administration of former Governor Gbenga Daniel is built on improving the socio-economic development of the state.
The PDP chieftain said Showunmi has good plans for the state being an experienced and qualified candidate for the position he was vying for.
“It is on record that Showunmi spent twenty years preparing himself for the governorship race, having paid his dues by serving at various capacities of the party.
“With such a fantastic record, there is no doubt that he will deliver his promises should he become Governor of Ogun state.
“The PDP Governorship candidate is running on a new deal with sincerely set principles. He had looked at the governance space in Nigeria and in Ogun State, in particular, and he is convinced that they cannot keep doing things the way they have been doing them and expect an outcome that is different from the ones that they have been having.
“There is no doubt that Showunmi’s agenda which includes improving the road infrastructure, adopting a robust environment and waste management strategy that will keep Ogun clean, provision of educational programme which will take the kids out of the streets, implementing a coordinated identity management system for Ogun state residents.
“Others are encouraging local content in the award of contracts covering infrastructure, providing healthcare for Ogun citizens with well-equipped hospitals across the state and ensuring that there is strategic empowerment of small businesses and households in the state will lead to the socio-economic development of the state in a greater height.”
He described Showunmi as a leader who would lead with integrity, accountability and transparency and ensure that Ogun attracts more significant investments into its economy should he become the governor of the state.
