CITIZENS COMPASS —The crises in the Rivers State branch of the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) deepened yesterday, as its chairman, Amb. Desmond Akawor, has tendered his resignation letter following his appointment as Federal Commissioner representing the state at the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
He tendered the letter to the Acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum, expressing gratitude to the party for trusting him to steer its affairs in the state between 2020 and 2023.
“After consultation with my leaders and family, I have accepted this opportunity to serve our country, which I consider as a national service. Consequently,
I have resigned my position as the Rivers State Party Chairman of our great party – The PDP, and immediately handed over all duties to the Deputy Party Chairman
– Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka who has commenced action in this stead.”
