Party chairman shot dead
CITIZENS COMPASS–Unknown gunmen have shot dead the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bako Bala, in Suru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kebbi State.
He was shot dead by the gunmen during a suspected kidnapping attempt at his home.
Zaidu Bala, the Special Adviser on Television and Radio to Kebbi State Governor,Nasir Idris, confirmed the incident on Friday.
He stated that the deceased and his family were abducted in the attack. Despite efforts to save his life, the APC chairman succumbed to gunshot wounds after being rushed to the Medical Centre Hospital in Birnin Kebbi
“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Alhaji Bako Bala has passed away — the APC chairman of Suru Local Government,” Zaidu Bala announced in a heartfelt Facebook post.
At press time, spokesperson Kebbi State Police Command, Nafiu Abubakar, was yet to confirm the attack.
This tragic killing is part of the escalating violence in Nigeria’s northwest, where banditry and kidnappings continue to pose significant security challenges. The region has seen a rise in such incidents as security forces work to combat the growing insurgency and restore peace.
