Party chairman beaten to coma

 

CITIZENS COMPASS –A primary election by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jos, Plateau State has turned violent as some party delegates have descended on Christopher Audu, the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area beaten him to coma.

The incident occurred on Thursday.

The election, which began peacefully, quickly turned chaotic after Audu was declared the winner.

The Chairman is currently battling with his life following the attack.

According to an observer, Michael Bulus, tensions escalated when some delegates who had been denied access to the hall forced their way in and confronted the TIC Chairman.

“The mob beat up Hon. Audu mercilessly, accusing him of manipulating the process to emerge as the winner of the primaries,”

Following the brutal attack, Hon. Audu was rushed out of Ba’ap, the headquarters of Qua’an Pan LGA, to an undisclosed location for urgent medical attention. Sources indicate that he sustained serious injuries.

Some officials of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) who were present to oversee the election were said to have sustained injuries.

At press time, the Party has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
