Panic as tanker spills content in Lagos
CITIZENS COMPASS– PANIC on Wednesday, engulfed the atmosphere at 2,- 4 Mobolaji Johnson Avenue, off Glover Road Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, following a truck laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) which split its content on the road.
Citizens Compass was alerted of the incident at about 5pm.
Both the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu and the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret confirmed the incident to our Correspondent.
Details about the incident could not be ascertained at press time but it was learnt that the content has found its way into the neighbourhood thereby causing apprehension about possible fire outbreak in the area.
Both agencies were on top of the situation as at the time of this report..
The Director said, “A Fuel Tanker has split its contents at 2,- 4 Mobolaji Johnson Avenue, off Glover Road Road, Ikoyi Lagos
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is mitigating the emergency situation from resulting in escalating further and thereby appeal to the public from desist from the ongoing scooping.
Furthermore, residents around the area are strongly advised from making naked Fire within the saturated environment to prevent ignition.”
The Permanent Secretary said, “Urgent: Oil spillage at Mobolaji Johnson Avenue/ Alfred Rewane Ikoyi Lagos
The Agency has activated its response plan to the above and members of the public are to refrain from illegal scooping of product to prevent any additional outbreak and to avoid igniting naked flame or fire.”
