CITIZENS COMPASS – An overseas -based businessman, Robert Izuchukwu Onyejekwe has been found dead in a hotel room in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
He was found dead on Monday, June 9, 2024 having lodged on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
A cleaner was said to be on duty when she found him dead in one of the rooms and she quickly alerted the management of the hotel who rushed to inquire about the sudden death.
It was learned that a medical doctor was invited to the scene who confirmed the lodger dead.
According to a socio-cultural group, Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF), on its official social media handles, Onyejekwe was a successful businessman in Houston, United States of America (USA) before his untimely death.
“Guy in the middle is Robert Onyejekwe (from Onitsha). Lives in Houston and is successful in Oil & Gas. Just hosted his annual OTC party in Houston. Came to Naija for a meeting, went to his hotel room in Ikoyi to rest in between mtgs. Found dead yesterday evening. 51 years old.✨ Life is too short to hold a grudge. Our next second is not guaranteed.”
An online platform, okay.ng, said the dedeasy had served as the President of Bits and Drilling Tools, a division of Schlumberger, where he led the development of innovative drilling technologies designed to reduce costs and improve efficiency in the oil and gas industry.
Confirming the incident, Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the Command had launched an investigation into the death.
“Izuchukwu was found lifeless on the floor of the hotel room. A doctor confirmed him dead and his remains has been deposited in a morgue in Ikeja for autopsy. The command has commenced an investigation into the case.”
