CITIZENS COMPASS– The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has rescued a young adult male when fire gutted a five-bedroom duplex in the Surulere area of the State.
The incident occurred on weekend at Chief Natufe Street, off Babs Animasaun Street, Bode Thomas.
Time was about 0610hrs when fire gutted the five bedroom duplex.
Emergency operatives were said to have rescued the victim when the fire gutted the five bedroom duplex.
It was learned that when the fire gutted the five bedroom duplex, the Agency received distress calls via its Toll-Free lines when fire gutted the five bedroom duplex.
LASEMA Spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, gave the details of the fire that gutted the five bedroom duplex thus:
“Following the distress calls, the Agency activated it’s Response Team from the Onipanu Base.
“Upon immediate response, it was observed that a five-bedroom duplex was engulfed by fire.
“Further investigations revealed that the fire started from a room at the top floor, before spreading to adjoining rooms at the aforementioned location.
“Cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as at the time of writing this report.
“The prompt intervention and coordinated efforts of the LRT and LASG Fire & Rescue Service ensured the fire was contained and quickly extinguished.
“The action of emergency responders curtailed the fire from spreading to adjoining rooms on the top floor, as the fire gutted only the four affected rooms.
“A young male adult was rescued and resuscitated by the LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Team before being taken to General Hospital for further medical attention.
‘The fire that gutted the five bedroom duplex was completely consumed the four rooms that were affected, resulting in total loss of properties worth millions of Naira.’
He said there was no loss of life when the fire gutted the five bedroom duplex.
According to him, agencies on ground during the operation of the fire that gutted the five bedroom duplex included the Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service
He said the fire that gutted the five bedroom duplex has been completely extinguished and dampening down completed.
He said, “emergency responders have secured the entire area while occupants of the building were enlightened on ways of preventing domestic accidents.
“Search and Rescue Operation completed.”
