One feared killed, many injured in tribal clash
CITIZENS COMPASS– ONE person was feared killed while many were injured on Wednesday, during a tribal clash which occurred in Ogbese Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident resulted in apprehension as people were said to have scampered for safety.
Eye witnesses’ accounts said the prompt intervention of law enforcement agents doused the tension.
One person was said to have died in the crisis while property worth Millions of Naira were destroyed.
It was gathered that the conflict, which began on Tuesday evening, escalated by Wednesday morning, when a number of stores belonging to a particular tribe were allegedly set ablaze in a popular market.
Citizens Compass learnt that this did not go down well with the other tribe which retaliated.
However, a community member claimed that the conflict stemmed from an altercation between a man who lived in the forest and another residing in the neighbourhood over hard drugs.
The police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that eight shops were razed but denied the report of an ethnic crisis.
