CITIZENS COMPASS– ONE person was reportedly dead while another was injured on Thursday, in a multiple accident which occurred on Kara Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The accident involved an 18-seater commercial bus belonging to GUO motors, a containerised truck and an SUV inwards inwards Ibafo, Ogun State.
It was gathered that the containerized truck suffered brake failure and lost control while on motion and this resulted a multi accident.
Seven vehicles including that of GUO transport bus and a Volkswagen were severely affected, with the Volkswagen falling beneath the Kara bridge.
The injured victim was said to be receiving medical attention at a hospital.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu in his situation report said, “The Agency responded to the above incident and upon arrival gathered that a containerized truck while in motion lost control. Brake failure resulted failed a multi car incident comprising of seven (7) vehicles. A GUO transport bus and a Volkswagen were severely affected, with the Volkswagen falling beneath the Kara bridge.
An adult male lost his life, while a second adult male sustained several injuries and has been transferred to a nearby hospital.
“The LRT, LASTMA official, FRSC, and the Nigerian police are the responders at the scene of the incident.”
The accident resulted in perennial gridlock that lasted for hours as many road users were stranded.
