Olubadan laid to rest
CITIZENS COMPASS —The remains of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, was laid to rest on Friday, March 15, 2024.
Recall that the monarch joined his ancestors in the early hours of Friday,
The late Olubadan was laid to rest at his Aliiwo ancestral home in Ibadan at about 4.30p. m.
Recall that the late monarch, who reigned for two years, died at the age of 81 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, after a brief illness.
The state deputy governor, Bayo Lawal, led other government functionaries to the family burial ground at Aliiwo in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state.
The lying-in-state was held at the Mapo Hall from 12 noon to 1pm before the remains were moved to Aliwo for burial in the Islamic way.
Dignitaries from all walks of life have been sending tributes to the family.
