Okada riders to receive electric bikes in Ogun
CITIZENS COMPASS – TRANSPORTERS in Ogun State are set to receive free all electric motor bikes from the State Government to help ease the financial pressure orchestrated by the increase in fuel price.
This was made by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who test-drove one of the motorbikes that his administration will soon distribute to deserving transporters and members of the society.
While sharing pictures taken during the test-drive during his visit to the Republic of Benin, Abiodun wrote :
“In our efforts to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, which has led to the rising cost of transportation in the entire nation, we made a promise to provide electric-powered motorbikes for those who relied solely on this means of transport.
While at the Republic of Benin yesterday, we had a test drive of some of the motorbikes that our administration will soon distribute to deserving transporters and members of our society, as a way of easing the financial pressure orchestrated by the increase in fuel price.”
Recall that the Ogun State Government last week began the conversion of diesel-powered State Mass Transit vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to help reduce the cost of transportation, following the hike in pump price of petrol.
“We have commenced the conversion of state mass transit buses, including staff buses and public transport buses currently in circulation, to CNG to reduce the cost of transportation by charging rates that are commensurate with what obtained before subsidy removal”, said Prince Dapo Abiodun.
