Okada riders receive free fuel in Enugu
CITIZENS COMPASS–Hundreds of commercial tricyclists popularly known as Okada riders in Enugu State, on weekend, benefited from donation of free Premium Motor Spirit otherwise known as petrol, courtesy of the Bishop of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Nsukka, Rev. John Eze.
The gesture was in response to the hardship and hunger in the country already taking its toll on many people including Okada riders.
The donation of the free petrol took place in the Eha Amufu community, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the State.
The donation of free petrol for Okada riders which took many by surprise, was aimed at alleviating the financial burden on the beneficiaries and providing relief to commuters.
Commenting on the gesture to the Okada riders in a statement on Sunday, said “I am thrilled to see the smiles on the faces of these hardworking bike riders.
“As a church, we are committed to serving the community and making a positive impact on people’s lives.”
“The free fuel distribution, which took place at the Eha Amufu Motor Park, attracted hundreds of motorbike riders who were delighted to receive the unexpected gift.
“Thank you, Bishop Eze, for this wonderful gesture,” said one of the beneficiaries, Mr Chukwuma Okoro. “This will go a long way in helping us sustain our families.”
The gesture, has been attracting encomium among social media users.
