Ogun satisfies with 2023 WASSCE

CITIZENS COMPASS – THE Ogun State Government has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the 2023 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), across the State.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made this known while monitoring candidates writing English Language subjects in the ongoing examination.

The Commissioner, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye and the Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Mr. Oluwole Majekodunmi, affirmed that the candidates were orderly, the officials were articulate and the examination materials were adequately supplied at the appropriate time.

Prof. Arigbabu, in a statement signed by his Press Office, Mr. Ayoola Obadimu, commended The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and school administrators for proper arrangement of the candidates in a way that discourages examination malpractices, noting that English Language was one of the key subjects for entering into higher institutions.

He said, “the good conduct of the examinations, the good disposition of the learners to their studies and various awards won by the students, schools, teachers and school administrators alike, were the confirmation of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s efforts in transforming the educational system in the State.

In their remarks, the Principals of African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko, Unity High School, Ago-Ika and St. Peter’s College, Olomore, all in Abeokuta, Pastor Adetunji Elegbede, Mr. Adeyinka Adegbare and Mrs. Abosede Majolagbe respectively, appreciated the State government and WAEC for the synergy that promotes qualitative education.

On their parts, the WAEC Officials supervising Egba High School, Mr. Abeeb Adeoye, Saje High School, Kazeem Oladipo and Unity High School, Adedotun Adekoya in Egba axis, applauded the candidates for their good comportment, hoping that the exercise would yield better results.

Schools visited include, Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Egba Comprehensive High School, Asero, Asero High School, Saje High School, Saje, Unity High School, Ago-Ika, African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko and St. Peter’s College, Olomore, all in Egba axis.
