Obasanjo hosts memorial service for ‘Jimmy’ Carter

 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Former Nigerian President and close ally to the late former President of the United States of America (USA), James Earl (Jimmy) Carter, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will host a memorial service for the late President in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Sunday.

Carter, died on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100 at Plains, Georgia USA.

The Special Assistant on Media to Obasanjo, Kehinde Akinyemi, in a statement yesterday, disclosed that the former Nigerian leader and foremost Africanist would host the memorial service to honour his friend, who was the 39th US President.

He hinted that the service will hold at the Chapel of Christ The Glorious King of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital by 9.00am.

The President of the Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji will present a special sermon on the occasion, while Obasanjo is to deliver a special tribute on

“Jimmy Carter: The Departure of a Titan”.
