Night guard allegedly connives to steal N14m goods 

... Police arrest suspects

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— Ogun State Police Command is currently investigating a night guard who allegedly conspired with his friends to break into a shop and stole some goods worth N14m.

The supermarket was located at Oke-Afa area of Warewa, Obafemi-Owode Local Government area of the State.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Friday, spokesperson, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said some suspects have been arrested.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Warewa has successfully made arrests in a case of conspiracy, stealing, and burglary reported by one Adelanke Olalekan (male) of Magboro in Ogun State .

“According to Olalekan, he received a call from a So-Safe Corps personnel, at about 05:45 hours, informing him that his supermarket at Oke-Afa had been burgled.

“Upon arrival at the scene, he discovered that his shop had been broken into and goods worth ₦14 million had been carted away.

“Upon receiving the report, the DPO mobilized his detectives to the scene, where CCTV footage was obtained. The footage revealed that the night guard, Mohammed Adams (male), who was assigned to secure the premises, had opened the gate for his accomplices, allowing them to gain access and successfully commit the crime.

“During interrogation, Adams confessed to masterminding the burglary. Further investigations led to the arrest of one Mastaudu Mohammed (male) in connection with the crime.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, reiterates the importance of vigilance and security consciousness among the residents of Ogun State. He emphasized that many criminal incidents can be prevented if individuals exercise basic security precautions. He urges everyone in the state to remain proactive in safeguarding their personal and business environments to deter criminal activities.”
